1983  東京都立川市のアメリカン軍ハウス生まれ  Born in American Army Village located in Tachikawa City , Tokyo.

伊豆の山麓で育ち、いつも南伊豆の木々や森の壮大な美に魅了されていました。日々木や石と遊びながら、探検をし、幼少期を過ごした。Arakawa san was raised at the mountain foothills in Izu, Shizuoka. Always captivated by the majestic beauty of the trees and mountains surrounding him in Southern Izu, spending most of his childhood days playing in the forest.

2013　木工を始める Started wood lacquer craft

荒川蓮太郎の作品は、私たちの固定観念を覆す**「感性のパラドックス」を内包しています。独自工法「泥漆朽ち塗り」がもたらす重厚な質感は、ベースが木製であることを隠し、まるでずっしりとした陶器や風化の進んだ石器であるかのような錯覚を視覚に与えます。しかし、手にした瞬間に広がるのは、木器ならではの驚くほどの軽さと温もり**。この劇的な二面性が、漆器の概念を鮮やかにアップデートします。

 独自の技法： 天然の漆に砕いた珪藻土（岩石）を混ぜ合わせ、手削りの木地に重ねる手法です。木・岩・人工物が風化し、自然へと「朽ちて還る風景」を器の上に表現しています。 
日常のための堅牢さ： 作家が目指すのは、日常で気兼ねなく使える「タフな器」です。鉱物を混ぜた漆膜は非常に頑丈で、現代のライフスタイルにも最適。毎日使い込むほどに手の中で美しく育ち、唯一無二の風合いへと変化していきます。

Arakawa Rentaro’s work creates a profound sensory paradox. Through his original Dorourushi Kuchinuri (Mud Lacquer Decayed Finish) technique, he performs a masterful visual trick: the dense, mineral-rich texture leads the eye to expect a heavy ceramic or weathered stone vessel. Yet, upon picking it up, this expectation is replaced by the surprising lightness and warmth of wood. This tactile discovery fundamentally challenges our perception of traditional lacquerware. 

The Technique: He mixes natural Urushi lacquer with crushed diatomaceous earth, layering it onto hand-carved wood to capture a "landscape of decay"—the exact moment when man-made objects begin weathering back into nature. Built for Life: Rejecting fragile art, Rentaro designs for the everyday. The stone-and-lacquer fusion creates an exceptionally robust, heat-resistant surface. These pieces are meant to be handled daily, evolving and "growing" a unique patina in the hands of their owner.
