Haga san creates ceramics that are evocative of the natural world. Looking at his works, make us think of time passage, fossils, minerals and colours of the abyss.
Similar to our predecessors, ancient potters, who returned the formed clay pieces back to the earth from which they were created in order to finish and bring them to life, Haga san fires his glazed pieces buried in the ground, covered with split wood (mostly oak and chestnut wood) for the final third stage. They undergo a complex change that make them each look and feel completely different from the their original glazed form, an added touch of primitive soft expression/essence to the final outcome.
This collection features white clay works and red clay works; non pit-fired pieces and pit-fired pieces.
*The picture is shot under natural daylight as close as to the real product.
